Demographics

At Ma`ili Elementary School, we intend to provide optimum educational opportunities for our students in an environment conducive to learning. We seek to have our students achieve their fullest potential, to have them experience success in school and at home, and to have them become contributing members of society. Our student population is multi-ethnic, with slightly more than half being of Hawaiian ancestry.

Ma`ili Elementary, established in 1963, is located on the Leeward Coast of O`ahu between Wai`anae and Nanakuli in the heart of the Ma`ili community occupying approximately 5.4 acres of land. The school attendance area is bordered by the upper half of Hakimo Road to the east and Ma`iliili Road to the west, including most of Mikilua Valley. The residential area is predominately rural and has many poultry and vegetable farms. Small businesses , churches, and a couple of health care facilities serve our community. Lualualei Naval Communications Facility and a small number of military housing units are also in the area. Two nearby shelters provide temporary housing for about 80 homeless families.
